Alejandra Celaya Class of 2017
by Ray Celaya
Alejandra Celaya is a Fresno High alumnus who graduated in 2017. She first attended in 2013 finishing all 4 years at Fresno.
Ms. Delgado and Ms. Reed were her favorite teachers on campus. She appreciated how those teachers were always glad to help her whenever she needed and how they were patient with her learning process. Alejandra excelled in art. She considers herself an artist and was drawing even before high school. She also did well in English. Ale didn’t like math because numbers weren’t her specialty. Ale participated in volleyball but not in any clubs. Her favorite memory through out high school was when she graduated.
Alejandra’s advice to current and future students is to get good grade and do what you need to do. High school isn’t forever its your next step to another. Get your priorities right now so you don’t have to worry about them by the time it’s too late.
Krislynne Flores Class of 2008
by Isaiah Estrada
The Fresno High alumnus that I have interviewed is Krislynne Flores. She graduated as part of the class of 2008, meaning most Seniors were only four or five years old at the time. One of her favorite teachers was Mr. Munoz since he was so calm and easy going. The subject she felt most confident in was English because she really enjoys it. Krislynne’s weakest subject would be math because the letters were confusing for her.
She did not participate in any clubs since she was always working and saving up money for her future endeavors. Senior year activities were her favorite moments from high school because most first-time experiences are hard to forget.
Some advice that she would give to current and future Fresno High students would be to join clubs or try more sports, make new friends and soak in every moment because time goes by fast. Krisylinne mentions, “It’s always better to enjoy life as much as possible before you have responsibility as an adult.”
Vanessa Pursell Class of 2019
by Daniel Pursell
Vanessa Pursell attended Fresno High during 2015-2019. Her favorite teacher was Ms. Vertson because she was always easy to talk to and helpful when it came to homework questions. The class that was Vanessa’s best was Film class because it was easier to work on the computer. Her worst class was English because she did not like the essays that were assigned.
She participated in Cheer, Mock Trial, kNOw More, Competitive Cheer, and Sport Cheer. Her favorite memory was performing at the rallies. The advice she would like to give is that “you don’t get caught up in the drama and focus on your grades, education, and your mental health.”
While Vanessa was doing all the clubs and sports, she was able to balance it all out and maintain a 3.50 grade point average.
Sean Hustedde Class of 2019
by Conor Hustedde
Sean Hustedde graduated from Fresno High in 2019, an IB Diploma candidate and president of Mock Trial. He was also in Movie Club. His favorite teacher was Mrs. Spencer. “I knew her for a long time and I could joke a lot in her class,” he explained. “Oh, and Mrs. Reed for the same reason. Also, Mr. Ochs because he was cool to talk to and very helpful.” His best subject was history because “I had the most interest in it. Also, English because I liked reading and writing and I was pretty good at writing.” His weakest subject was math because, “Math is for nerds.”
His favorite memory about high school was “spending time with friends and making solid friendships.” His advice to Fresno High students is, “Cherish your memories and friends from high school, and if you absolutely hate high school, then don’t worry because college will give you an opportunity to find a more diverse group of people that you will get along with.”
Isaiah Bernal Class of 2018
by Isaac Bernal
Isaiah Bernal is a Fresno High alum who graduated in 2018. His favorite teacher here is Mr. Brown the Men's Alliance/Algebra teacher. Mr. Brown taught him skills that he could use in everyday life such as budgeting and how to take responsibility.
When it came to his best and weakest subjects in school, he said that history was his best because he has always been interested in history, so it was easier for him to pay attention in class. For him, learning history is important so that we do not make the same mistakes repeatedly. His weakest subject was English because it was hard for him to read or watch something and see the deeper meaning, but he says it is easier for him now that he is older and has had more experience.
His favorite memory about high school was graduating because he felt accomplished. His advice to Fresno High School students is: “Make sure that you don’t peak in high school.”
Ashley Gonzales Class of 2013
by Daisy Alvarado
Ashley Gonzales graduated from Fresno High in 2013. Ashely’s favorite teachers while attending Fresno High were Mr. Rice, Mr. Bernstein, and Mr. Vinuela. She says they were the funniest and most understanding teachers and they cared deeply for their students. Because of them, Ashley was inspired to work with kids and pursue a career in the education department.
Her best subject in school was English and the weakest was math. Ashely participated in many school clubs such as cheer, the Polynesian Club, leadership, and link crew. One of her favorite high school memories was winning the Little Big Pig Game her senior year.
Ashley’s advice to current students is live in the present of every single day you are on campus. She said to enjoy high school, and be thankful for everything that you coach, teachers, and counselors give you. “Don’t be afraid to do anything, you are important.”
Mark Rivera Class of 2011
by Jazzy Alvarado
Mr. Mark Rivera graduated from Fresno High in 2011 and he has been working at Fresno High 2018. During his time at FHS his favorite teachers were Ms. Dossetti, Ms. Orgill, and Mr. V because he said, “Their classes were not only fun, but interesting, challenging, and memorable.”
Mr. Rivera did mostly well in school, but his favorite classes were history and physical education, and he is now a history teacher. He said, “I disliked math because I was never patient enough to learn it.” He also actively participated in two clubs which were his class club and BBA club.
His favorite memories from high school were probably his freshman year Little Big Pig Game. They had a pep rally in front of Royce Hall after school and there was a parade of people that marched to Ratcliff for the game. Their football team even ended up winning the game that night.
Mr. Rivera’s advice to the freshman would be to enjoy the ride because time flies by! He encourages students to be involved in sports, activities, and clubs because you only get four years of high school. He also said, “Make the best of your time in high school, and Fresno High is a special place with special people.”
Amanda Llamas Class of 1999
by Nick Bonilla
Amanda Llamas, who is also my mother, went to Fresno High for all four years (from 1994-1998) and she was able to graduate in 1998 wither her class.
Throughout all her high school years, one of her favorites that she remembers till this day was Mr. Hansen. Her reason on why she said that he was her favorite teacher was because he had a lot of patience with students, another reason on why he is her favorite is that if a student did not understand something on the lesson, he would take time to help to make sure that student understands the concept. She didn’t really have a subject that she was good in, but she had subjects that were her weakest like a typing class and Spanish. She didn’t really give enough context on specific typing class that she was in, but she said the reason that she struggled in that class was because she didn’t really know how to type, she didn’t really know where the specific key board letters were that were located. The other subject that she struggled in was Spanish, she had struggled with understanding the language and how to say specific things.
She didn’t participate in any type of clubs or sports because she had no interest in any of those things. Her favorite memories about Fresno High were the school spirit days and rally activities. Advice she gives is to study and don’t give up, focus on trying to reach for your goals.
Aberham Avendano Class of 2020
by Kayla Madrigl
Aberham Avendano was a student at Fresno High from 2017-2020. Now he is attending Fresno City College. When he was attending Fresno High, he was in cross-country, track, and field. He was also a runner for his middle school. When he was attending Fresno High, he had many teachers he looked up to and admired. Mr. Tao, Mr. Walter, Ms. Dossetti, and Mr. Crew were just a few of the people he admires at Fresno High. His strong subjects were English and history. He stated his weak subjects were math and biology. His favorite memories in high school were spending time with his cross-country team and spending time with his friends.
Something he would like to say to everyone that is still in high school is: “High school is nothing; college is something else. High school is just one chapter in your life, and you still have many chapters to discover. So don’t sweat the small stuff.”
Angelica Villalobous Class of 2004
by Matt Marquez
Angelica Villalobous first attended Fresno High in 2004 and graduated in 2008. Her favorite teacher was Mr. Magarity because he was a fun teacher, and he would joke around in class and do fun activities.
Her favorite class was English because she enjoys reading and writing to this day. She said she despises math with passion because she is not particularly good with numbers. She participated in the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) for all fours years she attended Fresno. Her favorite thing about high school was going to all the football games because they were good. Her advice to FHS students was to enjoy high school because when you are gone, you will miss it.
