Fresno High’s Homecoming Spirit Week

By: Kylie Pellouso

Fresno High’s 2025-2026 homecoming spirit week's theme was “2000’s Throwbacks”. A spirit week to give students style a blast to the past! This exciting theme was, as usual, chosen by the students in our Fresno high’s leadership class who all participate in the spirit weeks. Students who participated in spirit week also received the chance to earn points on the app 5Star to encourage students to participate.

As for Monday, the 22nd of September specifically, the spirit day was “Cheetah Girls” where students are encouraged to wear crazy animal prints or the popular 2000’s movie inspired outfits. On this day leopard/cheetah print was the most popularly worn print.

On Tuesday the 23rd, the spirits day was “Adam Sandler Day” where kids would wear comfy baggy outfits often consisting of long baggy shorts, black sunglasses, and oversized graphic tee shirts.

Wednesday the 24th had the classic theme of “Mean Girls Day” as based on the classic line “On Wednesday We Wear Pink!” where you could wear any shades of pink. Whether it was a cute skirt or stylish pink top, the girls more actively participated however boys were also encouraged to dress up.

Thursday the 25th was a general “Throwback Day” theme where students can wear any 2000’s inspired outfits. Examples include tracksuits, jerseys, etc. This day specifically also had lots of participation boys and girls included!

As for the last day of spirit week, Friday the 26th, just like any spirit week our theme was “Spirit Day” where sports members can wear their jerseys, cheerleaders can wear their uniforms, and everyone is encouraged to wear the classic purple and gold school colors or school t- shirts/merch.

Overall, Fresno High’s 2025–2026 Homecoming Spirit Week was a vibrant celebration of school pride and early 2000s nostalgia. With each day bringing a new and creative theme, students had the chance to express themselves, connect with their peers, and participate in a shared sense of community. From bold animal prints to iconic movie-inspired outfits, the week was filled with energy, fun, and a strong turnout from both students and staff. This year’s throwback-themed spirit week not only brought fashion and fun but also strengthened school spirit in a memorable and engaging way.

Fall Sports Throwback Rally

By Pablo Jandres

The Fall Sports Rally tends to have everyone sit down in the chairs of Royce Hall and introduce our current sports teams in seasons teams for example, Special Olympians, Cross Country, Girls Volleyball, Football, Girls Tennis, and Boys/Girls Water Polo. They also had games in between like musical chairs and a poster game. A large poster that was rolled up and tossed in each section of the seating you had to unroll it by throwing it back and getting a pink sticky note. The main purpose of these games was to keep the crowd entertained in between while they were giving us news and introducing our sports teams and the students in them. While introducing the teams JV and Varsity while both had their chance, they both put on quite a performance with flips and making pyramids.

Something interesting mentioned by one of the people speaking was introducing sports to the kids who are in special needs. This grants them the opportunity to participate in physical activities and actually compete and represent our school no matter if they are under the category of special needs. Many students in special needs were also already participating in these with some playing volleyball and Football who were then introduced to us next with a wide range of these students who went and participated and committed to these sports no matter the challenge they were facing.

Over all the Fall Sports Rally was a fun experience watching all those teams go out and introduce themselves, especially learning about the special needs kids in the sports. The activities were also fun, keeping everyone entertained, a rally like this was worth going to. According the ASB Treasurer Ashley Lopez Castellon, the highlight of the rally was “being able to introduce my own team, tennis.”

Hoco Dance Kick Off

by Ms. Mianne Sciacqua

On September 20, Fresno High School continued the tradition of a Homecoming Dance.  Instead of the cafeteria, which is under constuction, the event was held in Warrior Park. Theme was throwback 2000s movies: Twilight, High School Musical, Shrek, and Mean Girls

The dance started at 5pm and ended at 8pm.  The cost was $20.  Snacks and water were available as were three food trucks from which students could purchase drinks and food. Lawn games and a DJ provided entertainment as well as the Epic Games trailer.  Roughly 120 Warriors attended as well as many FHS staff members.

Homecoming Game Skirts

by Michael Garcia

This September 26, from 7:00-10:00 PM Fresno High School will be facing Mclane High School in the Homecoming Football Game at Ratcliffe Stadium, Fresno City College. In order to enter the stadium, students must have the Five Star app on their phone for ID verification. For students that recently graduated or parents they had to pay the fee. The Homecoming theme was Throwback 2000s Films.

Before the start of the game, many clubs and classes at Fresno High showcased their skit. Before all-weather tracks, these skits used to be actual floats on trailer beds with trucks pulling them! JROTC led the way, marching in step and presenting an Armed Presentation. Next came the Warrior Marching Band and Colorguard with a musical performance. Black Student Union’s skit was based on the movie, Drumline. The Class of 2029 performed a song from 10 Things I Hate About You. Next came the Class of 2028, honoring Shrek. The Class of 2027 took the crowd to Forks for a baseball game from Twilight. It was High School Musical for the Class of 2026 and for the win! Of course, the parade wasn’t complete until Cheer made an appearance from Bring It On.

The Homecoming Game is a highlight of this year and a celebration to students and tradition.
