Fashion Fun
by Valerie Juarez
On February 26, the worlds of fashion and music beautifully intertwined at the annual dual band event, showcasing both stunning outfits and captivating performances. “I really enjoyed the fashion this year; in my opinion, the dresses were even better,” remarked Naomi Rodriguez, a senior member of the Fresno High band.
The doors of Royce Hall opened at 6:00 PM, welcoming a crowd eager to support their loved ones as they performed in the band and participated in a brief fashion show. Following the band’s opening piece, which set an upbeat atmosphere, the instruments were set aside for a quick 10-minute intermission. During this time, the fashion models—who were also band members—graced the stage to display the outfits they received from ‘El Tienda’
The fashion showcase featured three categories: sportswear, casual, and formal, with formal wear serving as the grand finale. After each segment, the band members hurried back on stage to change outfits and prepare for the next musical piece.
The entire event lasted about 55 minutes, culminating in an opportunity for family and friends to capture memorable photos with the students. This delightful fusion of music and fashion not only entertained parents and students alike but also allowed them to experience art in multiple forms.
Giving Back with the Annual Blood Drive
by Aris Cookson
On February 27 from 9am-2pm, Fresno High School held a blood drive in the Senate Room and Parent Center with the Central California Blood Center. Students had the chance to donate blood and help people in our community who need it.
Before donating, students had to get a parent's signature and answer questions about medications, diseases, and infections. They also checked our temperature and blood pressure and made a small finger poke to test our iron levels. After that, the donors extracted one pint of blood. Even though some people were nervous at first, the staff was nice and made everything feel comfortable. Donors got free shirts, discounts, and food before and after donating, which was helpful.
One student, Sadie Cross, said, “It was interesting. I was nervous, but I listened to music. They were really nice and it went by really quick. I felt dizzy afterwards, but snacks were provided and it helped.” Overall, the blood drive was a great way for students to give back and make a difference.
Love is Love Dance
by Alan Smithee
The Beatles once sang, “All you need is love!” That lyric might have been written in 1967, but the sentiment still holds true in 2026. The Love is Love Dance is a joint Fresno Unified School District event, held on February 13. Permission slips were required, since the dance itself was not held at Fresno High School.
The free event took place at Farber High School, 7:00-9:30 pm. There was a DJ, swag, tacos and agua fresca for sale, cake, crafts, gaming, raffle prizes, and so much more. LGBTQ+ students from various Fresno Unified high schools were happy to put on their finery and enjoy the chill atmosphere.

Fresno High Celebrates New Gym
by Michael Garcia
On February 5, Fresno High School hosted an opening ceremony for its brand-new auxiliary gymnasium. The event marked two years of construction that the gym has undergone, with major anticipation from students and staff, along with some members of the Fresno community. The gymnasium is primarily meant for students and sports members, providing more space and room for new activities; it also represents a milestone as Fresno High is now one of the schools with a second gymnasium.
The development of a new gymnasium was undertaken due to numerous challenges, such as scheduling issues and limited spaces that our single gymnasium can’t accommodate. Thus, the need for a second gymnasium arose, with its development aimed at hopefully fixing these problems once and for all. Additionally, it positions Fresno High as another school with a second gym. The new gymnasium features new additions such as a snack bar, updated restrooms, a new indoor basketball court, and eight new tennis courts. In addition, the new space allows sports teams to play home games rather than going to another school, and thanks to this, the Boys Basketball team will be able to play a home game within the gymnasium.
The construction of the project was carried out by Davis Moreno Construction, Inc. for the full two years. As for the funding of the project, it was handled by Measure M, a bond measure passed in 2020 that aimed at repairing and modernizing school facilities throughout the district. The opening of the auxiliary gymnasium marks the completion of one of Fresno High's new goals that they have planned.
Senior Panoramic: Say “Cheese”
by Jessenia Vaerla-Gomez
As the months go by, Seniors are hit with another activity, the “Senior Panoramic Photo.” This photo is taken with every senior available on campus. This year the photo was taken in the brand-new athletic gym on campus to show off that Warrior Pride!
Seniors were told to check in with their fourth period teacher and then to head off to the new gym. They were met by Mama B who instructed them to sit in the middle of the new bleachers. For many Seniors this was the first time they had even been inside the gym. “It looked really nice and clean, and I liked the style of the floor," said Senior Yoanna Garcia. While they waited for the arrival of the photographer, students got the chance to chat with friends and get nice and close for the photo. Mama B also went over a lot of important senior things like graduation, senior merch, mentions of graduation practice and prom. It also allowed Senior to ask any of their burning questions.
Once the photographer was ready to go, he took a few sample shots before getting the final picture. Afterward, Seniors were excused to return to their fourth period with one more activity checked off. Now they wait to see when the picture is ready to be purchased. “I think it's cool that they still do it so we can look back and look at our class,” shared Lindsey Ruiz .
