Ugly Sweater Contest

By: Kylie Pellouso

On December 19, 2025, Fresno High School hosted an Ugly Sweater contest which was held during lunch hours at Warrior Park. This contest is just one example of the fun interactive events FHS hosts for their students and faculty.

On December 18, the day before the contest, students were invited to start decorating their sweaters during lunch in the school's Leadership classroom. Although students had to bring their own sweaters, the school provided any and all decorations for the sweaters. Decorations included everything from tinsel to ribbon to pom poms and more. The following day is when judging occurred in Warrior Park. The winner of this contest was staff member Ms. Syla Antonio, who had a blast decorating their sweater.

by Valerie Juarez

On December 18, 2025, at 4:00 PM, the Fresno High School Warrior Marching Band and Colorguard prepared for their annual Christmas concert. The doors of Royce Hall opened at 6:00 PM, inviting parents and friends to gather and appreciate the performances of their children and peers.

As the band took the stage, their enthusiasm filled the air, and this joy resonated throughout their performance. Their meticulous attention to detail while executing each piece appeared almost instinctual. The repertoire included Sleigh Ride, Big Honkin' Robot, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Wonka, and Holiday Celebrations.

Following their performance, the band members stood for photos with their parents and friends. “Participating in this concert made me happy and truly infused the band with the Christmas spirit before the break,” expressed Elihana Torres, radiating enthusiasm.

Fresno Police Department Spreads Holiday Cheer

by Alan Smithee

In a heartwarming collaboration with Fresno and Central Unified School Districts, the Fresno Police Department organized a joyful event aimed at sharing holiday spirit with students and their families. This initiative focused on acknowledging students who have demonstrated significant academic improvement throughout the school year.

On Monday evening, around 80 students from Fresno Unified, accompanied by their parents, gathered at Fresno High School. The school district and police department joined forces to celebrate those students who have made remarkable progress in their studies this year.

“We left it to the schools to help us select these students based on improvements in academics, citizenship, or social skills. We wanted to treat them to a special night,” stated Fresno Police Deputy Chief Mindy Castro during an interview with local news outlets.

The excitement reached new heights as everyone eagerly anticipated a ride on the Polar Xpress trolley, which would take them down Fresno’s beautifully decorated Christmas Tree Lane. Before the adventure began, Santa Claus made a brief appearance, enhancing the festive atmosphere.

That night, many local students and their families boarded the “Fresno Area Polar Express,” which comprised a specially converted express bus and three trolleys. Fresno police officers took on the role of Santa’s helpers, guiding the Polar Express along the twinkling Christmas Tree Lane. At the end of the ride, students and their families were invited back the Fresno High School for more fun.
