There were 21 different types of awards given out, ranging in the form of money checks, graduation cords, medals, or physical certificates. Valedictorian, DP and CP Dinner
by Levi Gagliano-Bingham
At Fresno High, we are celebrating our hardworking Valedictorian students with a special dinner at Warrior Park. Valedictorians are seniors whose augmented GPA maintained a 4.0 or above during the third and fourth quarters of their sophomore, junior and senior years. These students can bring one staff member and two guests to dinner. The dinner took place on Tuesday, May 20, after school at 6:30 and lasted until 8:30. The meal given out to guests consisted of tri-tip, spaghetti, rice, salad, bread and butter along with lemonade as well as brownies for dessert.
Near the end of the night, valedictorians could give a speech during dinner. Students choose to use the speech as a moment to give special thanks to their loved ones, share where they were going after high school and their favorite memories at Fresno High. One of the valedictorians, Valeria Aguilar Sanchez, gave a heartwarming speech, “I brought my mother because she came here with nothing and gave me everything. She supported me all my life and I will always be grateful for her.”

Year-End Spring Concert Highlights
by Julianna Kirk
The End of the Year Spring Concert was held on May 13 at Royce Hall. This annual event showcases everything the band has accomplished throughout the year. Students dedicated six months to rehearsing and preparing for the performance, which featured four new pieces: *Cenotaph*, *Chant and Jubilo*, *Marche Diabolique*, and *Cajun Folk Song*.
Preparation for the concert began early in the day during zero period. The initial task involved setting up the stage. Once that was completed, band students utilized the remaining time to rehearse on stage and acclimate to the acoustics. After school, students gathered in the band room for a final practice session with the director, focusing on the more challenging sections of the pieces. Before stepping onto the stage for the actual performance, students had one last chance to tune their instruments.
The event concluded successfully, with every student giving their best during the performance. Band member Luz Rojas expressed her enjoyment of being part of the band, stating, “Although band is time-consuming, it’s such a fun activity, and you meet so many people that you spend most of the school year with.”
