Tacos La Piedad

by: Catherine Spears

For my restaurant review, I visited Tacos La Piedad a restaurant that serves Mexican food. What I absolutely love about this restaurant is the different types of dining they offer. During the day, you may dine inside, but later in the evening, a food truck is posted in front.

The restaurant was kind of full, but there were still enough tables to sit at. I ended up ordering camarones a la diablo, which was $12.  My cousin got four tacos that were each $3. The camarones and tacos were served properly- hot all the way through. The food looked and tasted fresh and the aroma in the air smelled so good.

Service in the restaurant was a little slow, but I don’t blame them as it was quite full. The cashier was polite and did not rush me. She was quite helpful as I even asked for her opinion on some of the food. I personally did not like the tacos. I felt as if the meat was too dry, it left my mouth a little dry. On the other hand, my shrimp was good, and the spicy level was a little high but not something that is too hot to handle.

Other than the food, I most enjoyed the section in the middle of the restaurant where they keep vegetables and salsa. You can grab as much as you want from that island. I feel it is very helpful to the workers and the customers. I rate my overall experience a solid 8.5 out of 10. The service was good, and the food was plated and cooked nicely.

Al Rico”s

by: Joshua Butz

For my restaurant review I picked Al Rico’s. There are only three locations in Fresno, and I went to the one located in Ashlan. I got a plate with four tacos that came with my choice of meat, cheese, and tomatoes. It also came with some salsa and lemon. It's $1.50 for a taco, so I paid $6 dollars for four tacos. The tacos were very tasty. Al Rico’s had fast service, and courteous people working there.

From the time I ordered until I got my food, it was relatively fast, like under 10 minutes. And I got it just the way I ordered it. The food was hot and fresh, and the smell was amazing. There were a lot of people ordering. The salsa was also amazing and a little spicy, but I like my food spicy. I also got a medium horchata for roughly $3. The horchata was SO good.

I recommend coming here. I rate my experience at Al Rico’s a 7/10.
