The Smiths

The Smiths were an English Rock band that was formed in 1982. They have four members: singer Morrissey, guitarist Johnny Marr, bassist Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce. The Smiths have around 15 complete albums; my favorite is Louder than Bombs.

I have been listening to the Smiths since I was in middle school, they have helped me though so many situations. When I have one of their songs playing while I am doing anything, I know I will finish it because I am in “the zone.”

I love listening to them throughout the entire day. If it’s a car ride, doing chores, walking to class, or even crying late at night, I feel at ease because of their songs. They have many different tones in different songs. If you are feeling a certain way, they will most definitely have a song for you to listen to. I remember when I first started to listen to them, I would get made fun of because it was so different from what everyone else was listening to. There was a lot of the teasing that consisted of, “Why are you listening to a bunch of old men?”

It was very odd because three years later, one of their songs was trending and it was suddenly weird if you didn’t know the song. The Smiths will always and continue to be a personal favorite band of mine.
