What’s New at Fresno High? More than you might think.
Writing Center Now Open

For the students that need encouragement and extra assistance with writing, Fresno High School now offers a Writing Center to provide help. The Writing Center is in Royce Hall on the third story in room C30. It has been open since November 17, 2021 and will continue to provide services through the end of this semester, opening again once the second semester begins.
IB Coordinator Ms. Kyra Orgill is responsible for ensuring students have everything they need and more. New to Fresno High English teacher Mr. Rene Asencio, is there to guide students with the writing process. The facility is open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 pm-4:30 pm.
The Writing Center provides a quiet space where students can focus on their work. There are computers, charges, snacks, and beverages to help fuel a student’s brain power. Mr. Asencio can help with brainstorming, editing, and many other writing related activities.
Attendance Reward Program

The Attendance Reward Program is a program in which two students are selected from different grades like freshmen, sophomores, juniors, or seniors.
How this works is that a teacher nominates a student that has outstanding attendance since the beginning of the school year or a student that has been improving their attendance. The teacher will get an attendance certificate and will write the students' name that they have nominated and give it to the student the certificate to let them know they have been nominated. When the student has been nominated, they will be entered in a raffle and the office will announce the students whose names have been picked in the raffle, when that student hears their name, they will receive a prize for their good attendance.
The school is doing this because they want to motivate students to attend classes and to make sure they arrive on time as well. This encourages students to become more responsible and to make right decisions instead of making bad ones instead.
