Little Big Pig Game

by Jeremiah Gomez

Every year for the past 93 years. The Fresno High Warriors vs. The Roosevelt Roughriders compete against each other for the Little Big Pig Game trophy. Usually, it’s the final regular season game for both these teams. This year, and for the 7th straight year. Roosevelt defeated Fresno High 33-12.

This was a big game for the Warriors. The Warriors came into this game needing a win to secure their spot in the playoffs, which would be their first playoff appearance in years. Unfortunately, they weren't able to pull it off with Roosevelt dominating from beginning to end. The offense was only able to click at the end of the half's as they struggled throughout the whole game. Not only that but the Warrior’s defense couldn’t catch much breaks after giving up many big plays to the Roosevelt offense, giving up 5 touchdowns. The Roosevelt Roughriders hoist the gorgeous Pig Game trophy for the 7th straight year.

Despite a rough ending for Fresno High’s season. The Warriors have a lot to be proud of this year as it was their best season in years.  With most of the talent coming back next year. The team for next year is looking bright.  Go Warriors!

Lunch Time Events

by Chia Na Vang

“Don’t get wet!” Kimberly Molina, a helper for Wednesday of last week’s Little Big Pig Week event, Water Day, cleverly said. The activity was held in Warrior Park. It was set up by Mrs. Flores and volunteers during lunch. The activity consisted of six buckets in total. Three starting buckets were filled with water and had sponges. Three teams transferred as much water as they could into the empty buckets on the other side. It was as chaotic as one would imagine a water relay race to be. Music played through the speakers, adding to the fun. When asked how the race went, Kimberly said it was good, however, "Really hard. Like, you lose your balance a lot. But, if you think you’re strong enough, you can do it.”

Tug of War

by Kailey Espinoza

The Little Big Pig game is an annual football game against Roosevelt High School and Fresno High School. The two oldest schools modeled this game after the Big Little game played in Northern California, UC Berekley against Stanford. This year’s game was the 93rd annual game, and to celebrate the entire week, activities during lunch were held.

The first happened to be Tug of War. The game was played by both staff and students! During a specific round of Tug of War, they decided to play students versus teachers. Alas the teachers ended up winning, yet the Fresno High students still left with a cheerful smile and an unforgettable game.
