Homecoming Rally, 2022

by Bella Garcia

To celebrate the kickoff of another great school year, Fresno High School held their first rally of the year; Homecoming! The Leadership team gathered and decided that this year’s Homecoming theme was Disney.

The graduating classes of 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 held separate meetings to decide on their individual Disney based themes. The seniors (’23) were Marvel, the juniors (’24) were Pirates of the Caribbean, the sophomores (’25) were Teen Beach, and the freshman (’26) were Nightmare Before Christmas.

The Homecoming Rally was held in the school gym, with half of the school attending the first rally and the other half attending the second. Students were greeted with bright smiles from the Leadership students. Seniors sat in the middle, in chairs where their Marvel themed senior poster was. Juniors and underclassmen sat on the sides of the gym in the bleachers where their themed posters were as well. The rally was decorated in various purple and gold posters and décor, flaunting off the school’s strong pride.

Always a crowd pleaser, class games made an appearance at the Hoco Rally. The games played were balloon pop-it, Disney themed Family Feud, and Monster’s Inc bucket hat toss. Two students from each graduating class were chosen to represent their classes and participate in the games: the victors winning the school’s respect for the day.

JV and Varsity cheer performed breathtaking stunts during their four Hoco routines. During one routine, the Fresno High Band performed the fight song.

To honor the 1st quarter student athletes, a variety of sports, including cross country, girls golf and tennis, unified soccer, football, girls and boys water polo, and girls' volleyball, announced their team members’ name and grades to the entire assembly.

To close the Hoco Rally, Fresno High’s Principal Laettner led the students in a chorus of the Alma Mater.
