Homecoming Game 2022

By Jeremiah Gomez

What a night the 2022 Homecoming Game was. With a packed crowd, the Fresno High Warriors defeated the Hoover Patriots. The final score finished 14-12 Warriors. Both defenses ruled this game, but the Warriors’ early first quarter rally won them this game.

In the Warriors opening drive, quarterback Ivan Santamaria finds Lee Que Rice for a 59-yard touchdown. The Patriots would score the on their next possession, however missing the extra point. The Warriors came back with another touchdown making the score 14-6. That would be the core going into the half as neither offense was clicking since those first three possessions. The defense continued to dominant in the 2nd half. The punters on both teams had a very busy night because of the lack of production by both offenses. Going into the 4th, score still 14-6 Warriors. The Patriots still alive in this game. They drove down the field to score a touchdown to cut the Warriors lead to 14-12. Because of the missed extra point from their previous touchdown, they would have to attempt a 2-point conversion to tie the game. However, the Warriors defense gets the stop at the goal line, keeping their 2-point lead. With under 5 minutes left the Warriors are not home free yet as they must play offense to wind down that clock.

The Warrior’s offense began to drive down the field with the great production of running back Damareea Farris, who had a solid runs throughout the game. The Warriors marched into the Patriots' territory and faced a 4th down with under a minute left. Hoover had used all their timeouts to stop the clock. Getting a first down would have eliminated all of Hoover’s chances of winning this game. On 4th down, Ivan Santamaria found wide receiver Jermaine Schexnayder for the clutch first down. That first down secured Fresno High the win and their way to victory formation. Warriors win 14-12.

The Warriors came out in front of their home crowd and picked up a dirty win. This game belonged to the defense. Ivan Santamaria threw for 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions and Darrareea Farris balled out for 67 rushing yards in the Warriors win. This game goes to the Fresno High Warriors.

Homecoming Skits

By: Izzy Magee

The Fresno High (2022-2023) Homecoming Game! Many great things too place at McLane High that night, including both Fresno High team’s big wins! To entertain the crowd between games, students participated in skits- including JROTC, Film Club, BSU, FHS Cheer, and Classes of 2023-2026.

Students and staff did an amazing job creating their themes and managed to make look like they walked straight out of a Disney movie. JROTC opened the half-time, then Film Club following right after- bringing nothing but enthusiastic energy to the show. BSU then made their exciting entrance, dressed up as characters from The Princess and the Frog.

As of the four classes, Class of 2026 walked through with their The Nightmare Before Christmas (or “The Nightmare Before Class of 2026”). As a follow-up, sophomores walked out- either decked out in leather jackets and boots or tropical cover-ups and leis- to perform a dance from Teen Beach Movie! Juniors then made their big break-through with a Pirates of the Caribbean theme, performing a realistic battle on the deck (track field). Then… seniors came out to do a reenactment of Marvel’s Endgame to conclude the fun skits.
